Hi, I just had the biggest scare as of yet. I was going for my usual daily brisk walk and started having severe abdominal pains. It was so bad I was thinking it was my appendix and I was crying like a baby. It was on my right side halfway between my port and pelvis. I could barely walk back to work. Luckily, I work in a health care setting, a nurse took my blood pressure, it was 163/103, and I was able to lay down and rest for awhile. The pain is still there but now is very dull. I was banded on October 3rd and only have 4cc's in it right now. I spoke with my Doctor and she said that I probably just tweeked it a little while exercising. She said take some Motrin and relax and go easy with the food.< /p>

Has anyone else had this pain before? I wonder if this is something that is normal with the band?

Maybe it's not related to your band at all - I'm not a doctor, and have no medical background, but it sounds a lot like how I felt with my gallbladder. I had gallstones about 7 years ago, well before I ever considered being banded. The only thing is that walking helped that pain subside. When I went to the ER, they told me I fit the 4F profile for gallbladder disease - Female, 40, fertile and fat. When it happened I had started losing a lot of weight, and they said that rapid weight loss contributed to it. If it happens again, I think I'd throw it out there as a possibility.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
