LOW CARB / HIGH PRO Yogurt

Recommended Posts

Someone said they bought yogurt with only 6 carbs. I have not been able to find anything less than 18 which was Greek with fruit. Please any info would be great. I am close to Omaha so most stores are available. Thanks,

I eat Chobani Greek and love it! Have you tried that one?

Dannon Light and Fit has a Carb and Sugar Control yogurt that comes in a 4 pack of 4 oz cups. I have only found it in vanilla Cream and strawberry as it seems to be a limited product. It has 40 to 50 calories and 3 carbs per cup, I think. I can't remember the Protein value on it but it is in line with other yogurts.

CARBMaster yogurt is a store brand that can be found at Kroger, food 4 Less, Smiths Marketplace, Ralphs, and Fred Meyer. They have several different flavors. The ones I've had have either 8 or 12 grams of Protein and 3 or 4 carbs, depending. And they're usually about 50 cents a piece. Totally worth it!

I buy the large 32oz. containers of Chobani Greek non-fat plain yogurt. The secret to low carb yogurt is the sugar content in flavored yogurts. Most fruit flavored yogurts will be high in sugar and carb. I get around it by buying plain greek yogurt and adding my own sugar free jam, splenda, or some other flavoring. Greek yogurt is going to be much higher in Protein than regular yogurt. The plain Chobani greek has 22g per 8oz serving and 6 carbs. I add splenda to mine and eat it, but lots of people add fresh fruit, granola, or sugar free jam.

I like the large containers because it's more economical that way. The only place I can find them around my house is Martins. Not sure if you have those out that way. You can buy the 6oz individual containers of Chobani at food Lion and Kroger.

Thanks for all the ideas. Would not have considered adding sugar free jam to the Greek yogurt. Great idea.

Found out that our Bakers Store up here in the Midwest are actually Kroger. Going to also try to CARBMaster/
