IrishAnna 0 Posted February 12, 2006 I had my band fitted 3 days ago and so far I have lost 5 Ilbs. My tummy is rumbling with the hunger, I hope I can last out for my first fill. Any tips? Anna
JanetC 2 Posted February 12, 2006 Mykidsdad (I think it was him) said to always keep something in your hand, so you psychologically THINK you're eating all the time. So always have a cup of broth, or some tea, or a popsicle, or whatever. Also, if you can do Protein Drinks, it should help calm the rumbling a little. For our clear liquid days, I'm stocking Isopure Zero Carb RTD (watch the Zero Carb part!!): http://www.naturesbest.com/index.html?section=Shopping&catsec=208&-session=thisSession:66E77B3BDD1AD9D09A6A6584CEA7A0E2 Good luck & congrats on the banding!! Hang in there!!
IrishAnna 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Thanks Janet I have been doing that but the hunger pains are so bad. This morning I had a yogurt and I had the worst possible pain you could imagine after it. I ate it slow. I felt sick but when I tried to get sick it was just loud pockets of wind. The yougurt stayed down. I don't understand it. Is this the norm? Dody 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Not an expert on this, but from what I've read and heard on here you should be on Clear Liquids and not yogurt. I think that is the second stage about 2 weeks down the road. I would stick with Protein Drinks, popsicles, hot broth, Water, koolaid (unsugared) and not go to yogurt yet. If I'm wrong please someone who is banded jump right in. I just think she is trying yogurt much too soon.
stockymd 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Check with your doctor- My nutritionist (and I was surprised by this) considers yogart in the first phase of liquids.< /p>
IrishAnna 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Ok I won't eat any more yogurts just in case. What about the horrendous pain in my chest even when I do drink clear broth? Anna
NJChick 3 Posted February 12, 2006 I was hungry from the time I got out of surgery. I had to do 3 weeks of liquids and I thought I was going to climb the walls. I remember those wicked pains. The only thing that kept me from not eating was the fact that I didn't want to hurt myself and wind up back in the hospital. If your on clears, drink warm broth, teas, coffee w/skim milk, and ice pops...thats what I did. And remember its not forever...you really need to heal your insides so listen to what ever your doctor says to do. You'll only be hurting yourself if you don't. I know its hard but you can do it drink slow.
Guest Kira M Posted February 12, 2006 Hi, Anna. I'm sorry you are experiencing chest pain when you "eat". Are you really cautious, and sipping super slow, with small amounts at a time? If not, that could cause the pain. Try slowing down your pace and see if that helps. I hope you feel better soon!
Iluvharleys 15 Posted February 12, 2006 Jello helped me a lot during this time. Also grape and apple juice.< /p>

Cheri 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Don't fret darlin', You will make it!!! I would say the chest pains are good ole gas from the surgery!! It feels really bad now, but it goes away before you know it - I am 9 weeks out and almost forget what it was like! Stick to the diet, and call your doc if anything is just NOT right (that's what they're there for!!) Following the dietary guidelines will ensure that you heal well. I did drink a watered-down yogurt smoothie from time to time (not until after week 1 though!!!) Good luck, Anna, and welcome to Bandland!!! ~cheri

cashley 0 Posted February 13, 2006 My doctor said Clear liquids for two days and then regular liquids like Protein shakes, milk, creamed Soups the rest of the next two weeks. Starting the third week I can have mushy food. I'm starving.... You can only drink so many Boost shakes and creamed Soups in one day.
