cc restriction

Recommended Posts

I have received 3 fills so far and dont feel any restrictions yet, my last 2 fills were 1cc each. Can the doctor put more then 1cc in my band or is that the max at once?

It really depends on the band you have, and the capacity, Bands go from 9cc to 14cc, depending on the manufacturer,

You'll have to check with your surgeon to find the manufacturer and capacity before you can tell your band's fill capacity.

Your dr can add more than 1cc at each fill, however, drs work to their own guidelines, typically based on their experience, as to how much they will put in each time. My first fill I got 2.5cc, then 1 cc, tehn 0.5 cc, then nothing, and then 1 cc.

Just remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint and a slow and steady approach will be more successful in the long run.

My dr did 4 cc's, then another 4, then another 2. for a total of 10 cc's in my 14 cc band. My dr does them relatively rapid. But most dr's don't do them that quickly. 1-3 is average.

I ended up going to a different doc for fills that was closer to home. She fills you at the same time as you are drinking Water and when you are bout to spew she pulls back a little and you're done. I have had two from her that both put me at perfect restriction...good luck!

Wow, that may need to be an option for me depending on what My surgeon does tomorrow. I just feel like by my forth fill I should have some restrictions and I dont.

Ok you guys, I went to see my surgeon today for my 4th fill and I was filled with .6cc, which puts me at 8.6. He stated that now with proper diet and exercise I should start seeing results as of now. However, I didnt gain nor lose any weight!

There is really no way for him to know that. You may be close to the right place but if you dont feel more satisfied and some restriction...you just need more fill! I mean, if this was about diet and exercise and we could do that successfully, why would we let a doc lasso our stomachs?

My surgeon says that the amount in the band doesn't really matter, it is the effect that counts. I don't even really know for certain how much I have. Somewhere around 6 to 6.75 cc.

I just had a tiny top-off yesterday, he didn't even talk about how much I have, just how I feel at this level.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
