Call and nag nag nag. I had a doc that didn't return calls once. I then called after hours which probably bugged him so much that she got on her nurse and she called and apologized the next day. Docs don't like after hour calls. ;) That's why we call during the day....duh.... :)

Consider requesting a barium swallow (if you haven't had one post-op) to check the positioning of the band.

Sounds awful-- good luck. I had lots of weird things right after surgery too-- and to be honest as helpful as these boards can be sometimes, getting in to see that DR. can be the best peace of mind there is-- even if it's a common issue.

Take good care in the mean time.

I had a similar thing, not really chest pains, but a pain would shoot up in my chest area, through my throat and into my head giving me a bad headache. I would have to sit up or put another pillow under my head to get it to stop. Now I am just about 6 weeks and it has completely gone away. I was thinking maybe the tube from the anesthesia might have done a little damage and my body was just recovering from that. What did your doctor say? Hope you are feeling better.

Hopefloats, I am glad to know that someone else had this similar feeling. but i am even more glad that you said yours went away. did you feel like something was almost like blocking your air way? oh and my throat really hurt when i was laying down and if i would breathe through my nose. it is so weird. and i havent gone to the doctor. i have an appointment on the 29th which is 1 week away so lets just hope i dont die in the meantime. lol

yes, it was like my throat would close and block my air and it would radiate into my jaw and down my chest. I really think it must have been from the tube from the anesthesia...Aria3 said the PA said it was esophageal spasms, so that is probably what we are/were experiencing. Mine did go away after a few weeks, hopefully yours will go away soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
