Scale isn't moving down (or up)

To fill or not to fill?

1 member has voted

  1. 1. I feel, after 5 months post surgery, that I have been filled to the limit. I can't eat anything solid without getting sick. I'm due to go back to Dr. the day before Thanksgiving, and I am not gaining nor am I losing weight.

    • The only time I seem to lose weight is if I eat ice cream or something high calorie that stays down. It seems to be going against everything I know about weight loss. Help!!!

When do you know when enough is enough. I'm so restricted that I can't eat much of anything solid, but I'm not losing weight. Lost almost 50 lbs in 5 mos, but I still have 15-20 lbs to go. Should I get Fluid removed???

Yes, if you can only eat sliders, and ice cream, is a slider, you need to have an unfill! I have been there, do it for yourself, and good luck. Karen

Yes! It's normal for some foods to cause issues (bread, Pasta, dry meat) but you should be able to keep solids down in general. You are loosing weight, but not in a healthy way. Unfortunatly, you are probably loosing some muscle, which obviously you don't want. I would get an unfill ASAP. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
