shawna_s 8 Posted November 15, 2011 Has anyone been denied because they gained weight during the 6 month supervised diet??? I legitimately gained 5-7 pounds b/c of medicine I was on, but I was still 8-9# shy of meeting the 40 bmi requirement, so I cheated a bit. Well, I cheated more than I thought and the doc's scale said i gained 15# in 1 month...AHHH! I am afraid it will be obvious as to what I did and they will deny because of this. Anyone know?? Dawn200321 146 Posted November 15, 2011 I gained about 3or 4 pounds during my supervised diet. I was approved on the first try. I did however have a BMI of well over 40 from the beginning

shawna_s 8 Posted November 29, 2011 do you know if they are super strict on the 6 month thing what if you have proof of documented attemps but it doesnt state a time frame?? I know they want 6 consecutive months. So if I were to start over in a month or two I would have to start my 6 months ALL OVER AGAIN! Is that what you are asking??? Violet953 46 Posted December 15, 2011 MrsMoretti, it depends on the doctor ...because when my doctor saw I wasn't loosing weight fast enough, they told me I had to wait until I lost 50 pounds before I could get the surgery! Luckily after I lost almost 20 pounds they were ready to schedule me. They just need to see that you CAN diet and loose the weight for the surgery...because you still need to follow all of their rules after surgery..you don't just get it and loose all of the weight instantly...they just want to see that your serious. They don't want to give the lap band to somebody who's just flubbing along. And Shawna, I had to cancel one of my appointments and I had no idea that it meant I had to start ALL over! I was so upset, I had 2 months that I had to cross off, and start all over again with just 1! It was awful, I cried and cried..lol. But I have to say it went by quickly..and I'm in the 6th month now with my surgery happening in the next few weeks. And the bonus is- I lost just about 30 pounds pre surgery! kewlshort1 4 Posted December 17, 2011 I gained weight during my 6 mos nutrition counseling. It was insurance mandated, not physician mandated btw. My surgeon had no weight loss requirements, like some do. I wound up on large doses of prednisone during my 6 mos, and subsequently gained a bit of weight. I was still approved on the first try. I have Humana insurance.
