I was wondering if anyone experiences any pain, pressure or discomfort of any kind when running 5K's, 10K's, half and fulls? Related specifially to thier band. I ran about 4 miles a few times now and around the 2 mile mark for some reason I had some pain in the middle of my chest that went away after about 10 minutes. I don't know if this was just pain or the band etc? Anyone have any advice or experience differences in their running post surgery with the band?

I was getting a "Burning, Painful" discomfort in my lungs that was hampering me.

Spoke with my PCP who said he gets the same thing when he runs marathons.

It is called "Exercise Induced Asthma" (google it)

Very common with runners. Does not mean you have asthma or any other problems for that matter. It's just something that happens.

He gave me a script for a inhaler that asthma patients use. Instructed me to use it 20 minutes prior.

Never had a symptom since, greatly enhanced my endurance.

Interesting! That is a great point! I am going to my Dr next week and will for sure discuss with him. Thank you!

I'd be curious on what your doctor says. Having run a lot in the past, I am looking forward to getting back to longer distances. So far I haven't experienced any issues since banding, but then again, I haven't had it long and I haven't gone over 3 miles or so. I plan to be back up to marathons and beyond again, before long, so I really hope that I do not experience this moving forward.

Good luck to you..
