Would love some advice!

I was a member of this forum a couple of years ago and have just re-joined (lost my login info). I was banded in February 2007 and have been near my goal weight for a couple of years+ -- started at 265 and am now holding steady at about 160. I am THRILLED with my success, but hate all the excess skin that shakes when I exercise and spreads out over the bed when I lay down.

I am planning to have some significant plastic surgery in December and I really have no idea what to expect, other than what my surgeon tells me. I don't know anyone who has done this before, so I'm counting on my fellow banders to give me the straight story. I could really use your help and support!

The current plan is that I will have a corset abdominoplasty (tummy tuck that goes vertical rather than horizontal), lower body lift with auto augmentation (fat added back to my butt), liposuction from my thighs and silicone breast implants. The surgery will be long (8-hours) and I will need an overnight stay. I'm planning to follow it up a year later on with a thigh-lift, but it all can't be done at once.

The good news is my DH is a stay at home dad, so I will have lots of support. The bad news is that I am the only breadwinner, so I MUST be back at work after 2-weeks.

Anyone out there had anything this extensive? Any advice, stories, details? Anyone think I'm crazy to think I will be back at work (office job) in two weeks?

I need all the advice I can get!

I only had a TT and Lipo of the flanks and went back to work (office job) after 3 weeks. I was still very uncomfortable after 2 weeks, I'm not sure I could've made it all day after 2 weeks, good luck.

I think you are crazy but then again I'm having a TT with Corset muscle repair, breast lift and breast augmentation next month and I'm hoping to be back up and going by 2 weeks also. LOL

I do have a friend of mine that had an extensive TT a few months ago and she was out dancing 9 days later, so I guess anything is possible.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
