At 14 days, you likely still have swelling. Also, you can have restriction with nothing in the band. I do. I am 5 weeks post op and went for my first fill last Friday , but didn't need one. I'm losing with just the band in place. You still have a band around your stomach. That in itself, is restricting. Lots of people can't do bread anyway. It balls up in there and is difficult to get down.

My first stuck episode was a half a banana and I said i would never do that again...but I did, many times, and I was a slow learner! Seems funny now but not at the time!

It seems that bread for a lot of People (including me) is just one of those things that won't go down..

I got use to it quick, it was better to do without then get stuck.

Further down the line, you might try small pieces, but don't be surprised if that first one doesn't go down.

Try not to cheat (I did to) until someone pointed it out to me, that I was still healing, and could screw something up.

I never did cheat again.... So I'll pass that advice on to you all.

Shirley.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
