How many CC is your Lap Band Filled until you're not hungry?

Recommended Posts

This is a tough question and one that we have all asked at one point in this journey. Just trust in one thing if you continue to have fills and eat the right things you will get in the green zone. It took me 9 months and 6 fills but when you are there it is great. I think i am at 9cc in an 11cc band. Just try your best not to get discouraged and remember this is a life long journey not a sprint. We are all here to support you on this.

I had to get to 5.5 cc in my 10 cc band before feeling restriction. I lost another 11.5 pounds with that number and had to go in yesterday for another .5 fill for a total of 6cc. I am hoping this is all i'll need for a while. Only 28.5 pounds to my goal!!

I have only had 2 fills (1st--2cc's and 2nd--.5cc). I couldn't tolerate the initial 3cc's she put in (Water came back up). I definitely noticed that I have to chew my food much better, eat slower, and take smaller bites. However, as long as I do all 3 of these things, it seems like I can eat as much as I want. At what point will I actually feel full on less food to the point that I stop myself? I still get hungry between meals to the point that I just want to inhale the food. I have made this mistake a few times and paid for it.

My PA said she doesn't expect me to need much more Fluid in my band beyond 4cc's. She expects me to be in the green zone between 3.5 and 4cc's. I found that amazing since so many people here have 6+cc's. I'm currently at 2.5cc's and I do feel it helping some, but I still get hungry between meals and can eat more than a cup of food. I just wish the band would kick in soon. I'm starting to get discouraged....

I have a 11cc band in me. Got my operations Sep 2011. Had 4 fills to date with 9cc in. I feel no different at all. Can eat as fast and do not get full. Don't get me wrong, I have lost 30 pounds since surgery but on my own. Feel like why am I doing this. Doc states everyone is different and the top of my stomach is small so it will take more. If 11cc does not do the trick what do you do?

i just had my 2nd fill on Tuesday so I don't know yet if I have more restriction. I don't get to start eating until tomorrow. I felt nothing with my first fill so I'm really hoping #2 gives me something. My Dr. told me I could come in every 4 weeks until I get to the green zone, so I have another on 1/31...2 in one month. I'm pretty excited about it. I have 4 ccs right now in a 10cc band.

I got my Band on June 27th 2011, (6 months ago) I am a low BMI'er, Only need to loose 55 pounds

My Dr decided to put in me the 14cc band, (the large band, I honestly think , that is one of the reasons why I have not met the sweet spot yet) I have had a total of 9 fills in 6 months,

I am now at 10.75 in my 14 cc band,

AND NO SWEET SPOT YET!!!

It is so frustrated!!! I hope I get there!! I have only lost 5 pounds in 6 months, my last fill I couldnt eat for like a week nothing will go down, the next 2 weeks I thought I was in my sweet spot because I was never hungry but that only lasted 2 weeks, and then hunger came back, I am always hungry I could finish my whole plate as long as I chew chew chew, I dont get full.

I really hope and pray that I get to the sweet spot.

What does a Tight Band fell like???? Being in the "Green Zone"?

I'm sitting here at my laptop, having my Breakfast - a Protein shake with some mixed berries, mixed in a blender.

I have to take small slow sips and swallows, and with each swallow I can feel it pass through my band, and if I keep my mouth open you can hear it "Gurgle" as it slowly passes.

I'll probably have 2 cups of coffee before heading out to work, but other than Water that I have with me all day, that's it!

I'm satisfied! No interest in anything additional to eat.

I cannot even get interested in what I may (or may not) eat for lunch, let alone dinner! NO INTEREST!

I used to be obsessed with food!!!

That's being at that "Sweet Spot"

It's not a feeling of being "Full", as if you've overeaten, it is more of a "Lack of Interest" in eating. I believe it is a signal the band sends to the brain, same as if you were full, but you're not full, telling you "You Don't Have To Eat".........make sense???

Hi everyone: Please can you help me out? I had my surgery 10 days ago and I'm supposed to be on a liquid/mushies diet right now. Unfortunately I experienced no restriction in the band I started to get worried thinking the band may have slipped...I ate 6 glasses of soft desert, two large[!] chocolate bar and, sushi rolls, 4 slices of cheese and felt absolutely no restriction at all. I know I shouldn't have eaten all these things, but I can't believe that with 5cc restriction in my band I can eat this much. Please give me advice. I'm "only" BMI and feel like I'm on the track to gain weight. Should I get a fill now? Please help as soon as possible!

I have 8cc in a 10cc band (I think) and I am in the green zone. I was there twice before and then plaeaued and got fills. The last one was only 0.3cc but it helped me get off the plateau of 155 pounds. The one before was 1.7 I think...they will show up on my ticker when I post.

Yes, I lost most of my weight at 6cc in a 10cc band, then plateaued, got 1.7ccs, got to 155 and got that last tiny fill to get to and beyond normal BMI of 145.

When they first put the band on the do not add a fill of any kind. It just goes around your stomach. First fill is around 6 weeks so most do not feel any restriction. I didn't and with 9 in me right now I still don't so it takes time and I mean time and you got to be patient.

Thank u soooo much for describing what normal good restriction feels like. I've had the feeling but thought it wasn't normal & had them take ome out. I guess that's why I've only lost 10 pounds in 3 months, could eat anything & was always hungry!!! Well I got a fill as soon as I read ur post earlier today & now I'm "gurgling" like u lol. I just hoope I also don't feel hungry or want to eat all the time. When I first had surgery I felt no hunger not interested in food at all but after 7 days that went away.

Good luck to all including myself.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
