Feeling Short Now!

Recommended Posts

I also feel shorter but I don't truly know if I am or not. I did however lose 1/2 inch somewhere in the past year because I was always 5'4" and I am now 5'3 1/2"!:)

Me too!

wait... 6' 4"

I lie.

Perhaps you are misclassifying the feeling. Maybe you feel smaller... which is a very very good thing :) and what is half an inch between friends?

One thing I would say though - if you are trully getting shorter - check into bone density. It can make an incredible differents (as my near 70yr old MIL found out when she fell down stairs and came out with bumps and bruises. She's been on the bone density pills for years).

I'm short to begin with 5'4" but now I feel really short! Any body else feel shorter?

Yup, I feel shorter than 5'4" . . . mainly because I'm 5'2" :heh:

Just kidding. Perhaps you feel more petite because you are. You don't take up as much space, things are easier to reach for, walk around, it's probably even easier to duck under things because the fat around your middle isn't in the way. When you sit down, you may be a little lower in the chair because you don't have so much padding in the rear . . .

Enjoy it!!!!! :clap2:

*Sniff. No, I still feel like a lumberjack. Last night I did a Slumber Party for 20 itty bitty 21 yr olds. They were all tripping over my feet. I can wear their cha cha heels for earrings.

YOu know now that you mention it....I went to my PCP the other day for a routine check-up and now I am 5'8 1/2 I was 5'9 when I had my surgery. hmmmmmm I guess the fat pads on the bottom of my feet elevated me a half and inch. LOL

I feel really tall at most times because of my weight, and i am 5ft4. When I was a size 4 I felt tiny, like I could hide anywhere and people were always looking over me. Now I feel like a giant, and like I loom over even the amazonian women. Maybe its my additude. LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
