Hello! I had my band surgery on October 28th. From October 13th until November 3rd I lost 13 pounds! I was thrilled. Since November 3rd though I have been stuck at the same weight. I am still on the liquid diet (shake in morning, yogurt for lunch, and shake at dinner, with Water and broth in between). I even have been walking every day. So why is the weight not coming off? I know it should be slow - about 2 pounds per week, but this week has been nothing. With a high Protein, low calorie diet, with exercise you think there would be some loss. Did anyone else experience this? Does any one have suggestions??

Yes - my first month or so my weight loss slowed way down. My experience was that I just kept at it and the weight started moving again. I took it one day at a time followed my doctors instructions and walked. Eventually the weight will start to come off. Good Luck to you!!

Are you sure you are getting enough calories? If not your body goes into starvation mode and stores fat, and the weight loss slows down. You need to make sure you are getting enough. Don't be discouraged though, once you start eating again it will come off. Good luck!

Just remember that it takes your body time to change "modes". When you shock your system the way banding does, it is quick to revert to "starvation" mode where it stores everything it can, keep doing what you are doing and your body will realize that things have changed and that this new intake and expendature is here to stay, it will adjust and you will start burning fat for energy again. Just keep your Water levels up, your sodium down, your Protein up and your carbs to a minimum. It's different for everyone, but your stagnation in weight loss will not be permanent.

Stay Strong!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
