Beachy_Babs 5 Posted November 10, 2011 Hello everyone, I haven't been on here in a few months... hope you all are well. Anywho, I've been eating under 1200 calories and working out and I am gradually inching up on the scale. Could it be the coffee that I drink every morning? I use splenda and fat free Creamer so I don't see how that's terrible...but i have heard that coffee is bad for you. Do we have regular coffee drinkers here?? what is your input on this and what do you think I'm doing wrong? How depressing!!!! As I am typing this, I'm getting ready for a personal training sesh with my personal trainer at 5 am...so i dont know what's going on!!!!
Jonna 4 Posted November 10, 2011 Don't get discouraged!! Maybe you're losing inches and also remember, muscle weighs more than fat so with your working out you're building muscle so you are possibly going to gain a little. Keep doing what you're doing and the results will show, I promise!
Jenn1214 120 Posted November 10, 2011 I was just at my surgeon's office and the PA said that women tend to lose inches even if they are not losing weight. Do you take your measurements? You may be pleasantly surprised! As for the coffee being bad for you, I personally think it's a crock. I've lost 60 pounds since March and I drink about 2 cups a day (regular cups, not mammoth Venti cups!). As long as you drink enough Water it shouldn't be a problem. Have you changed your workout routine with your trainer lately? Perhaps your body is just reacting to that by holding on to some extra water weight. If that's the case the weight should come off soon. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged!
transforming jlaroux 78 Posted November 10, 2011 I drink coffee every single morning, I also drink 48 oz + of Water every day. Do you track your foods? You might want to try and get real serious about tracking, if you don't already. Other than that, the previous poster is right, check your measurements if you do, it might help motivate you. Beachy_Babs 5 Posted November 12, 2011 Thank you all for responding and your encouraging words. I have just continued my personal training and workouts, staying under 1250 calories...and not stressing about it anymore. You are right, I have noticed a NSV . Lost quite a bit of inches. I think I will be staying away from the scale for a bit. As for your question of tracking food, yes, I do track my food ...and very obsessively too lol. I use the MYFITNESSPAL app
CheckYes 46 Posted November 12, 2011 Can I suggest you use body fat percentage rather than weight to track your progress? Check at your local gym to see if they have the machine to measure it or see if there is hydrostatic weighing near you. I think that you might need more calories - especially given you are working out. I recently found out that my base metabolism was 1650 calories and eating below that caused my body to hold on to weight. I was training for a triathlon at the time and burning between 2400-2900 calories a day so eating 1000-1200 was way too low. Also, I've recently started lifting serious weights in the past month - 4 days a week - and it broke a three month plateau with an 8 pound loss in one month and a loss of 1.6% body fat!
