Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting here, although I've been lurking and learning for a few weeks, now.

I completed my pre-op journey, and had my Lap Band surgery today! Before surgery, I've lost a total of 14 pounds. My goal is to lose another 98 (and more, eventually).

Surgery went really well. I arrived at the hospital at 5:30, did my preop stuff, and surgery started at 7:30. I woke up in recovery at about 10:00. My surgeon said it was textbook, and that everything went really well. I left the hospital at 2:30 in the afternoon.

My belly is swollen and sore, and it's hard to bend over, but I can't complain! I've been up and walking around for most of the day, including going to the grocery store (with help) to pick up some chicken broth, V-8, and juice.

Anyways, I just thought I ought to introduce myself.

Thanks!

~Twinkle

Welcome. Sounds like your surgery went well. Remember to get planty of fluids and walk around as much as you can. If your Dr. allows it, Protein helps the healing process.

Congrats. As you can see by my signature we started at the same weight and have the same "goal" I like you are not sure if I will be done or not. But I am here to share with you there will be days it seems its taking forever and than you will look around and realize you have lost a bunch of weight. Keep up the good work and I know you will do great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
