For all you stomach sleepers out there, how long was it befre you could sleep on you stomach again???

It'll probably be a few weeks before it's comfortable. You need to heal a bit before you begin to put much pressure on your port site.

You might be able to put enough pillows around to be almost able to sleep on your stomach, but be careful.

Whenever you feel ready, it's different for everyone but I'd say definitely a few weeks. I was nervous so I slept on the couch for about a month before I returned to my bed out of fear of rolling over in the night. So for me it was about a month before I was able to sleep on my stomach, but I was still careful for another month (but I'm just paranoid)

It took me aout 8 days and then with a pillow sorta propping me up on the side. I sorta sleep that way anyway. Drives my husband and dog crazy.

Im a stomach sleeper too. Its been about two weeks since surgery and I still can't do it. I have turned in my sleep twice and it woke me up. I can't wait till its comfortable for me to sleep on my stomach again.

It's crazy how sometimes I wonder something and poof! Someone asks about it on here!

I am side sleeper and have done a few tests with pillows all around me but still not comfy. Hopefully after a couple weeks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
