Maybe you need another fill?

And are you exercising? That's key!

30 pounds is 30 pounds lost! Keep at it, and try another fill, too! Good luck. Karen

I've only lost 30 lbs in 10 months so I feel your pain. In Sept I had gained 2 from my previous appointment so I got a fill. I went back the last week of Oct and had lost 4 so my doctor was thrilled. He's totally happy with 1/2 lb a week. I felt like I needed to have some Fluid removed because I was struggling to eat. Sometimes I need 45 minutes to finish. He didn't want to remove any Fluid and after I talked with the nurse, I think I was confusing feeling stuck with feeling full. I've had to adjust my brain to the fact that sometimes a few bites of something is all I need. It's so weird when you've been eating large volumes of food and have to adjust down to a fraction. It's taking a while to wrap my mind around it. I started doing Zumba in May and go 2-4 times a week depending on my schedule. I'm loving that which is a huge accomplishment in it's own right. I have never enjoyed any type of exercise so being able to keep up in a class for an hour makes me beam with pride. I was feeling discouraged because basic science tells me that if I'm eating considerably less than I used to and I'm exercising, the scale should be dropping. I just went in for a basal metabolic rate test yesterday. It determines the number of calories you burn just by being alive. (breathing, organ function, etc) Mine came out about 1600.....so If I eat 1400 calories a day and exercise, I should lose. I'm going to see the nutritionist because I don't want my body to start fighting me. I know you dont' want to lower your calories too much or your metabolism will shut down to preserve itself. I also know it's important to mix up your exercise between cardio and strength. In spite of only losing 30 lbs, my health and overall well being is so much better. I'm going in next week for labwork and my annual exam so I'm hoping my fasting blood sugar has come down some more as well as my cholesterol.

I understand your feeling that isn't enough or fast enough. Honestly, have you been drinking enough Water and also writing down everything you eat or drink with calories? I was under estimating the amount I ate so I was really surprised to see the difference that made...Also drinking enough Water is very important! Also, making sure you are consuming enough Protein. I eat or drink Protein within 1 hour of getting up as that restarts your furnace burning...remember it's a journey and you need to take it one day at a time and one step at a time... Good Luck!!!

I think an average of five pounds a month is perfect. That is about how mine has gone with a few long plateaus where i was too lazy to drive down to LA (4-5 hours) to get a fill. This so-called slow loss makes me 100% sure that I will never gain any of it back. Its just a lifestyle now.I know the changes the band helped me make are forever...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
