sharonk 23 Posted November 6, 2011 As of this Friday, I have officially completed all steps needed for my drs office to submit the paperwork for insurance approval... 6 months of going to visit my pcp, nutrition consult, 6 months of support group meetings and of course the dreaded psych eval! I wasnt concerned before that insurance wouldnt approve me but now that the time has come, im a nervous wreck! I feel like im going to be denied since i am otherwise pretty healthy. If i remember correctly and since my bmi is only 37-38, we are using my high triglycide(?) Count as the co-morbitity. The last 6 months have felt like forever and i have my heart set on having surgery before christmas. I at least hope bcbs will get me an answer fairly fast as the wait is already killing me and its not even monday yet. Ahhhhh! Maybe i should stop reading others post on insurance denials but i do need to prepare myself for the worse... anybody know a percentage of overweight but fairly healthy people who get denied?? Prob not but just thought id ask...plus i needed to vent. :/
kewlshort1 4 Posted November 6, 2011 I'm getting ready to submit for approval too (on 11/11). I was told my insurance typically has a very quick turnaround. I'm hoping that's true for me. I'm also nervous that I won't get approved. I won't rest easy until I get that approval! Hopefully you'll get your answer soon, and hopefully it will be a positive result! Keep us updated! I have Humana for insurance, and I haven't seen anyone else post that has the same insurance, so I'm not sure what other people's experience is. I work at the hospital that I will have surgery at, and a number of people that work there have had the surgery as well. I'm hoping that I will have the same luck they did with the insurance. kewlshort1 4 Posted November 6, 2011 I go on 11/11 for my "final" nutrition counselling appointment at my surgeon's office. He will be submitting the paperwork following that appointment. I will also be going over all my pre-op and post-op instructions, etc on that day, as well as scheduling my tentative surgery date. I chose to do my nutrition counselling with their nutritionist instead of my PCP so that everything was in one place, and because he is the one with all the info on what the insurance requires and what the procedures and processes are as far as the surgery. Since he works with the surgeon and does all the paperwork for the insurance, he was able to answer a number of questions for me. Best of luck to you!! Why are you waiting till 11/11?
