Slow Healing and No Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

new to the forum and having a few issues.

i had the surgery 6 weeks ago and ive had 2 fills so far totalling about 4.5cc. my doctor is great and will let me come in every week if i wanted to, but im not sure if another fill is the answer right now.

i've lost 7 lbs before my first fill and havent lost anything since. starting wieght was 209. im currently at 202 with a target weight of 170.

all of the wounds have heeled except for the port wound. i feel it when im asleep and roll over onto my stomach and the pain wakes me up like i tore something on the inside. it happens on and off every few days. i think its too shallow and its not fully healing. i have no idea.

i dont snack and i dont eat late. i rarely eat more then 2 times a day plus 1 to 2 Protein Drinks. but i've always been one to drink a lot of liquid during meals. massive amounts. i know drinking while eating is part of the reason why im not losing weight, but not even a pound? i stopped drinking pop and i've stuck to non carbonated juices and teas. its still liquid, i know, but im not sure if im able to stop drinking during meals. its pretty much half of all the liquid i drink during the day.

any input would be appreciated...

Wow, every doctor is different, mine would not do a fill till 6 weeks. Drinking with meals is not helping the weightloss. Also if your not walking or doing some form of exercise, the weightloss will be slow. Stick to the rules, evaluate the types of foods you are eating and exercise. That will probably speed up the process. Good luck!

if you must drink with meals - no juices! they are too full of calories - stick to Water (flavored with 0 calories - there's lots of good ones out there) or water plus crystal light - i drink A LITTLE during meals because right now i only have 5.5 ccs in a 14 cc band and the little bit of water helps to fill me up during the meal since i have hardly any restriction. Surgeon said it was ok since i'm steadily losing and not drinking much during the meal. i've hardly exercised at all but do stick to my surgeon recommended 800 calories per day about 85% of the time. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
