after 2 yrs...I gained 5 lbs

Recommended Posts

Was down 104 lbs-then I gained 5 lbs this past 2 weeks. I think I was ahead of myself thinking I couldn't gain any wt. I was band3d 2 yrs ago and was only 9 lbs from goal. I'm really dissapointed in myself. I've been snacking a lot at night which also give me terrible heartburn at nite. 3 wks ago I was thinking it was simpled to keep the wt off-now I'm not so sure. I don't know why I'm eating so much cuz I get full really fast and I'm uncomfaortable when I overeat. I'm cdcebating whether I want to get another fill or just do the 5 day pouch test. I'm afraid I've stretched my pouch. D9es the 5 day pouch test let u know whether or not u need a fill or does it help shrink ur pouch back?

Don't be so hard on yourself...it isn't the end of the world....something is going on that made you revert to old habits...it happens. Posting will probably help you think it through and get back to eating clean and exercising...reflux is horrible and that suffering alone will help you mend your ways.

Let's face it, we are good at gaining, we have proven we are good at losing, too....maintenance is the wild card and takes real work. I went through it, too, and had immense anxiety that I was going to get fat again, so I feel your pain. I journalled honestly but informally and walked more and worked through what was going on....sometimes it doesn't seem fair that the weight just won't stay gone by itself, LOL!!!!

Best wishes and keep posting,

Mimi

Exactly.....don't be so hard on yourself. Look how far you have lost!! And everything you've overcome. You know why you gained the weight, you know how to change it. Don't let it get any further, get it under control now. So proud of you!!!

I am with the rest of the replies. 5 pounds is not the end of the world. What is important is that you recognize it and you know that you need to take action. I am not at goal yet (just got banded in August) but when I do get there my maintenance plan is to continue to weigh in weekly and if I gain 5 pounds, I will immediately make sure I take steps to lose it. I think you will always have a day to day fluctation on the scale but set a limit and make sure you dont allow yourself to go over that. I think you will be fine because again, you are monitoring and recognizing that you need to take action. Dont be hard on yourself and dont let it get you down! You have done a phenomenal job and you should continue to Celebrate that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
