Anyone ever done Power 90?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking at the descriptions of P90X and Insanity and they sound pretty scary to be honest. Is Power 90 just as insane or is a little more geared towards people like me? I'm in no rush since I just started exercising again recently, but in a few months I'll probably want a challenge. Any opinions? Thanks!

Jen, I haven't done it myself, but I've heard from friends that it was a bit easier and more geared towards MOST people. I, personally, started with P90X and let me tell you, I got a stiff a** whipping the first day, but I stuck with it and it felt awesome after I finished. I would actually like to try Power 90, too, so I really look forward to what people have to say. :)

What have you heard about it?

EDIT: So, I just did a little research and here's what I found out:

- P90X is harder and some people say that Power 90 is a good lead-in.

- Power 90 has crappy music and a bland stage, so it's tough to maintain interest, unlike P90X, they say.

- P90X gives you more of a "diet plan", not that it's all that important to us, most of the time.

I'm gonna be honest. After doing this research, I'm happy I didn't buy Power 90. I'm a really visual person, so if I felt like I was doing an 80's aerobic video on steroids, I would have checked out early. haha. The other thing that I like about P90X is the dialogue. There's a lot of really entertaining lines in there that kept me interested and entertained.

I think the toughest part about P90X for me was that it was tough to keep up at first. I felt like a certifiable weakling for the first couple of weeks. He tells you, too, to take breaks if you need them, and you bet I did. lol. I probably did 60-70% of what they did, as far as quantity goes, but I'm slowly improving. It was tough.

All things considered, I would just go with P90X, but that's me. Sorry for the long post. haha.

I also have p90x & even though it's a great workout you really must be VERY careful because you can & will hurt yourself. It's extremely challenging, even my fit athletic husband had his issues. Whatever exercise program you start make you listen to your body. All in all I liked p90 over power 90. Good luck & be safe.

Power 90 is INSANE! The yoga nearly killed me! The one dude who is ridiculously ripped is in a full body sweat in just a couple of minutes of the yoga! My daughter did the abs one and survived it and got some pretty abs! (shes 17!) Literally some of the people in the video can barely do it and the main guy goes around and corrects them! Its crazy!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
