GoBanana 6 Posted November 3, 2011 GMA has a story about a woman losing 131 pounds from the sleeve - now i know this is the lap band forum but all of the rules still apply and it takes just as much work - i provided the link below for you to read the article....and if you have time read some of the comments....after reading some of them i am very happy with my decision to keep my surgery quiet and away from judgement http://gma.yahoo.com/woman-loses-130-pounds-months-radical-stomach-surgery-182125253.html
Corrigan 75 Posted November 3, 2011 I'm not quite sure of the object of this post. There are people on this site that have lost over 200 lbs on the band and still have their stomachs.
GoBanana 6 Posted November 3, 2011 i was just saying - the comments on it - were cruel - and im excited to not have to be subjected to those (soon) and how im glad im not telling anyone because of the judgements...
annnmariee 0 Posted November 4, 2011 A woman at work asked me if I saw this today (I did not). She wondered why I didn't have the sleeve instead since the woman lost such a large amount in such a short time. (I guess I'm not losing quickly enough after only 6 weeks.) I told her I liked the idea of slow and steady. I'm really beginning to regret telling my coworkers, but kinda had to since I work at the hospital where I had it done. Either way, I know I made the right decision for me to have Lap-Band.
NJGirl32 43 Posted November 5, 2011 I didn't tell anyone other than my hubby and 1 co-worker. I saw it happen to a friend who had GBS people just said mean things behind her back and I certainly didn't want to be the object of conversation. My weight loss is slow but steady so people think I am dieting and I like it that way. It is a little difficult sometimes because I eat so little when dining out with others. I am happy that I didn't tell everyone-I might tell some others down the road (like my mother). Plus no one ever told me that it would be a slow process. I focused on people who had lapband and lost weight quickly-who knew that 3 months after surgery my weight loss would be so modest? But after the right fill things started happening. I just hope it continues that way!
TerriF 9 Posted November 5, 2011 I think your weightloss is great. I think the less one has to lose the slower the process and the closer you get to goal the harder it gets. But hey I am down 50 lbs in 6 months, I would never have done that on my own. I didn't tell anyone other than my hubby and 1 co-worker.
