Cooking for family while on liquid diet???

Recommended Posts

Hello girlfriends - I am on day 2 of the postop diet with a surgery date next Wednesday, 11/9. I have several dinners in my freezer as I have three kids and a hubby. How do all of you handle this aspect whlie you're on the liquid diet both preop and postop (and when you're very limited on what you can eat?).

Love reading all your posts. Hope to be another success story soon :).

God Bless,

Julie

I don't have kids, but my hubby has been so considerate. He has been eating a lot of Cereal, sandwiches, and salads so I don't smell food cooking. Ask your family to help you and I'm sure that they will.

Good luck with the preop diet.

I have husband and son at home and they just had to suck it up while I was on the pre and post-op diets. Sometimes that meant cooking their own meals, sometimes it meant eating without me so I didn't have to smell their yummy tucker. But mostly they were highly supportive of what I needed to do -in fact, they still are. Sure, it meant a bit of extra work all round, but it was short term and we all just coped.

I did this during last Christmas. I cooked with my Protein Shake in my hand. I did taste the food but I also spit it out instead of swallowing it.

I did do a lot of pre cooking so that I wasn't in the kitchen every night. My husband was great and stepped up and helped with cooking on various days

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
