You are still healing. So there is likely some swelling still.

Most of the time the fill the band at the time of surgery. I had 3 CC's in but didn't know until my first fill. Also you are still swollen. Take it easy & heal!

Dawn, I've been banded for 3 months and haven't had a fill yet, and no hunger. Some folks go for

years without a fill. I've asked and none seems to know why the difference, but I'll take it. In your case as has been stated already,

you're healing and will be for six weeks. You're really lucky you

don't have any hunger. Most postop people complain mightily

about starving. Hope your hunger stays away.

It's true...some people lose over 100 pounds without a fill. Consider yourself lucky that you might not experience bandster hell.

Enjoy this time :)

I went 12 weeks from surgery for my first fill and during that time had the most superb restriction. I lost about 1/3 of my excess weight in that 12 weeks, it literally poured off me. Once that swelling wore off, I have never, ever been able to replicate that restriction - I have never been able to get to the point where I have no hunger at all like that first couple of months, yet could still eat anything, just a tiny portion. Now, to get to that level of "unhungry" I'd be so tight I couldnt eat anything. I get it for a day or two after a fill and that's it.

You're lucky, I am 9 days post op and I have zero restriction plus my appetite has returned. I was fine until about two days ago and my hunger is getting worse by the day. :(

Thanks everyone! I am feeling a little hungrier now that some more time has passed. They have me scheduled for my first fill on Dec. 1st. I wish they could have done it before Thanksgiving because by then I can have solid foods. Oh well hopefully I will work that day and will miss dinner. I know they need to wait 6 weeks though

I had my band put in on October 19th and I do get hungry but not like I did before. I have to tell you that the crockpot is my friend! I put just about any kind of meat in there with vegetables and broth and let it cook and I can eat meat (protein) and feel full longer. I can say that I have more trouble getting my fluids in than feeling hungry. A side benefit of the crockpot is my daughter is trying new things; I do not want her growing up with the same problems I did. It is really funny that she calls every type of meat chicken. LOL!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
