DeLarla 22 Posted February 10, 2006 I keep a whole grocery store at work. I've got canned goods, honey, teas, raw walnuts, Vitamins, Soups, pickles, olive oil, vinegar, mustard. Everyone knows the left crisper drawer in the fridge belongs to me. It's filled with fresh veggies (cleaned at home) and cartons of yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, baggies of leftover Protein. I've always got at least a week's worth of lunch and Breakfast items. I often feed my skinny attorney when he's too busy to stop and eat. I swear, it's the ONLY way I've remained sucessful. The one day I didn't have food was the day I slipped and ended up eating Taco Time.
gadgetlady 4 Posted February 10, 2006 ReneBean, why don't you put a small cooler (soft-sided) in your car with some blue ice? That way you could keep things in there all day. It wouldn't be good for things that need to be refrigerated, but for stuff that's OK to stay cool ("room temp") it would work. Then just bring the blue ice in from the car every night and freeze it overnight. I have TONS of soft-side cold bags. If you don't have one or can't get one, PM me and I can send you one. gadgetlady 4 Posted February 10, 2006 One other thought on this thread. Before I was banded, I would enlist my dh to assist me in limiting my sugar intake. I would purchase Reese's pb cups (my favorite) and he would hide them. Then when I had a craving, I would ask him and he would give me one pack (instead of the normal 2 or 3 I would eat if they were just in the pantry). Perhaps some of you can use this method with the things you want but you don't want to eat too much of?
PhotoNut 7 Posted February 10, 2006 Thank you Gadgelady, happy to know you too Any fan of mine is a ..well.. heh.. Good grief, Im starting to sound more like Dawg everyday. *laughs* And speaking of him, NO WAY would I let him hide my goodies. He is so mean to me, every time I said I was having a craving he would say something like, 'Go walk on the new treadmill for 15 minutes first'. *pouts* He took away the scale batteries and hid them. I only get to weigh once a week now. And I love weighing every 20 minutes! *sobs*
NJChick 3 Posted February 11, 2006 Beanie I wouldn't recommend you storing anything in your car, wouldn't want to take a chance on something going bad and getting sick. Carry something small in your purse...get a bigger purse The 100 calorie packs are not as tempting as you think....but they do take the edge off if you want something sweet or salty and don't want to go overboard on the calories. I doubt you'll eat more than one (b/c they aren't like the real thing). One thing that works for me is when I go to BJ's wholesale (its like sams club or costco's) is I buy the box of single serving low fat microwave popcorn. Its already portioned out and low calories. Hmmmm Beanie you could put one of them in your car and by the time you go home at night your car will smell like a movie theater lol.
