roeroe 18 Posted November 1, 2011 hi Alishaba; i have federal blue cross blue shield also. i am so glad to find someone that has the same insurance as me. when was your 3rd dietician appointment, i am wondering how long it took from that date to get approval. my 3rd appointment is November 8th and my surgery date is december 1st so i hope that is enough time to get approval and keep my date. congratulations to you. hope you find out your date soon. Flaquita24 7 Posted November 1, 2011 I have the same insurance. Did u ladies had to do the sleep apnea test, the ultrasound and the EGD TEST. I have to do all of those test before they send the request to my insurance
roeroe 18 Posted November 1, 2011 i had an upper endoscopy with my gastroenterologist but no sleep study, the pulmonologist gave me clearance without it, he said that my airway was not narrow and i did not have thick neck and no snoring issues, so he felt that i was not a candidate for sleep apnea. i think i will need a chest xray and blood work the week before the surgery though
Alishaba 1 Posted November 1, 2011 Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! I went to my primary care dr. on August 17, had my 1st dietician appt. on Sept. 10th, and my 2nd dietician appt. on Oct. 22nd. My surgeon's office went ahead and submitted it without a 3rd dietician appt. because my primary care dr. had documented that we spoke about diet and different plans to try. I will know about the remaining tests that I have to do when I go to the surgeon next week. I do know for sure that I will have to have the ultrasound but still unclear about the EGD and the sleep apnea test.
Danny Centeno 1 Posted November 1, 2011 Congrats I got APPROVED to im having mine in December
roeroe 18 Posted November 1, 2011 keep on top of that because the lady in the insurance dept of the bariatric surgeon says that blue cross blue shield federal wants the third dietician appointment when most other insurances only want two and they have to be 30 days apart and if you skipped one, you had to start over again with the 1st one. i also had to get a letter of support from the primary care and a 7 year weight history. but i live in new jersey not sure if that changes things. good luck friend. MelindaH 3 Posted November 1, 2011 So happy to hear about everyone's approvals, but esp the BCBS Federal ones. May I ask how many co=morbities you are required to have? I have high cholesterol. GERD, sleep apnea, pre dabetic, hypertension, arthritis, DDD, knee replacements. Are these viable? Thank you, Melinda
Dulci 108 Posted November 1, 2011 Congrats on all of the approvals, especially my fellow Feds. I had a BMI of 36.9 and co-morbidities of sleep apnea, pre-diabetes, bordyerline HBP, and GERD. My doc submitted to FEHB BCBS on a Wednesday and I was approved on a Monday.
