auntbrat 1 Posted November 1, 2011 Long story short - 3 years in and all weight regained started with new surgeon who added Fluid to band that gave me restriction 3 weeks ago. Was very excited about whole thing and restarting my loss. Dietician suggested I do 2 weeks of Protein Shakes to jump start this again. I lost 10 lbs the first 10 days and was very happy but in past 2 weeks haven't lost another pound. I'm sticking to my calories of 1000 to 1200 and getting right amount of Protein. I don't understand how I am not l
auntbrat 1 Posted November 1, 2011 I hate my iPhone it cut me off sorry. How can I not be making progress? I am walking and increasing the speed and distance bit by bit. Isn't it too soon for a plateau? I just can't believe I can cut back my calories by several thousand and start an exercise routine and not make progress. I'd appreciate any words of wisdom you may have.
transforming jlaroux 78 Posted November 1, 2011 Maybe your body is in starvation mode? If you're increasing your exercise and not eating enough calories, your body won't lose.
xavier 153 Posted November 1, 2011 If you have gone from shakes to real food that is your answer. liquid food unless medically necessary is not good or realistic for your body. Jumpstarting your weight loss is also not a good idea as we are all in this for the long haul and by that I mean the entire rest of our lives! We need to make small changes in small steps that we can live with forever. The diet mentality of your dietician is completely counterproductive and unrealistic. You just need to eat smaller portions and focus on feeling satisfied and making some better choices that you can live with forever, not a drastic silly thing like shakes which makes everyone hungry and ready to overeat when they come off of it...some of these dieticians are using knowledge from decades ago! auntbrat 1 Posted November 2, 2011 Thank you for your input. I think you're both right that my body is starving and holding onto every ounce it can. I talked with the dietician today and she suggested I do 2 shakes a day to substitute meals and one solid food meal per day. I think that's ridiculous. I am just going to stick within my calories and eat my small meals.
