aswag 0 Posted October 31, 2011 I started my mushies phase yesterday and I just am confused about how much I should be eating at one sitting. I had cream of potato Soup with cheese added for "lunch" and then had it again for "dinner" both times about 1/2 - 3/4 cup. I had a greek yogurt for Breakfast. and just Water to drink throughout the day.... There is NO WAY this is enough calories for a day. So how MUCH and how OFTEN should I be eating my mushies??? bromo 17 Posted October 31, 2011 Are you drinking Protein Drinks? And taking your Vitamins? If so, you should be getting in enough nourishment. Yes, after surgery our diets are pretty poor just trying to get some food down, but that is what the suppliments take care of for us. Sometimes it is hard to get it all in at this stage, but just give it your best shot. You definitely need more Protein than what you had yesterday because protein definitely helps us to heal as well as giving us energy.
Corrigan 75 Posted October 31, 2011 It sounds like you're doing fine, with the exception of Protein. You need 600 to 800 grams a day. You can buy protein isolate, which is pure protein, on line or in a health food store to mix into soup or broth (mix it with cold Water first), or you can buy Protein Drinks, or tubes in Walmart.< /span> I prefer Costco's Muscle Milk powder (vanilla) best, some hate it, so you're just going to have to experiment. I hope your surgical program told you all this, they should have. If you have any more questions, just ask. You'll find this a very helpful group.
