Recommended Posts

I was Banded on 10-31-2006.

So this is now my 5 year Bandiversary ! ! ! :D

When I first started out on my Journey, I weighed 356 LBS...

Last time weighed,, was 231 LBS.....

It didn't take this long to lose the weight. I was deflated for about

3 1/2 years. So I started fresh in January at 328 LBS....

Either way,,, it all adds up to weight loss. That's what I like to see..

Next ! for me, I have onederland in my sights. and there is NO !

Stopping me now !:woot:::woot:

Just thought I would share the Big News...

Shirley.

What caused you to be deflated?? Great job on the weight loss!!

The surgeon over filled me, but he thought he blew the band...

After that he wouldn't touch me anymore.

Then we were laid off so no ins...

So I got Ins. last November, but I couldn't find a Dr. to touch DAMAGED GOODS....

This year I found a Dr. willing to take me on, and it was one of his students...

He's a good Dr., and not such a pain in the @ss.

I only needed a fill ! ! !

I could have been at GOAL years ago, but it slowed me down, so I'm picking up where I left off.

Thanks for asking.

Love your optimism Shirley, you are always so upbeat and that is why you've had such great success, despite a hiccup or two along the way. Onederland is just around the corner!

Thank You Jachut ! I love this day for the kids, and for this Band.

Ive hit my share of Bumps in the road, I'm sure you know.

That includes 1 or 2 hiccups or a case of the hiccups.

Its now been 5 years, and what I remember the most was a Nurse in the Hallway on the way to surgery said to me. 'WELL,,, ARE YOU READY FOR A NEW LIFE ?" I never gave it a thought, and "YESSSSS !" popped out. No regrets, even through the Bumps.

Now onederland ! I haven't seen that since 18 yrs. old.. Almost 40 yrs. ago,,, that's a long time coming. But it will Happen.. One Pound at a time !

and I'll be there !

Shirley.

Wow ! Thanks ! All I know is I just keep trying, and I refuse to get hung up on a scale, So I don;t bother until it's time to get weighed at a Doc's office.

Then I log it into my purse calendar, and adjust my Ticker with a smile.

All I can say is IT WORKS! :D So go with what works for you......

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
