I am 3 days after surgery on 10/26/11. They have not been good days as far as eating or drinking. This third day late in the day I have been able to keep the power shake down and eat a little broth. Up until now everything I tried to eat eventually came back up. I have worked thru the gas pains and problems with ease. I have been able to do house work a little at a time. But not being able to keep anything down for three days was really making me weak and shaky but that has left.

I would like some suggestions of what things others are eating. I have popsicle, fudgesicles, chicken broth and that's about it. Nothing sounds good or tastes good. I do seem to have a funny taste in my mouth all the time. Any other experience this, When I use mouthwash or toothpaste it is way to sweet tasting and it makes me sick. Just curious how others are doing

I drank Isopure for the first week or so. Not that great a taste, but it did stay down. I did that because I was told to stay with Clear Liquids, so maybe the Protein Powder is making you sick. I hope you get it resolved quickly. Maybe call the doctor's office on Monday and ask if there is anything they can suggest. Also, if you are taking any kind of meds, they should all be liquid or chewable. I did some of the chewable for a few days, and THAT left a funny taste in my mouth.

I was banded in June, and am so thrilled that I did, but you really need to call and check on the nausea. Sounds like you're doing well with getting through the surgical problems of gas, etc., so you're on the upswing.

Keep us all posted on how things are going for you.

my day was 10-25. maybe having a bit easier, but i was drinking broth, 10ml at a time, but keeping it down at the hospital. i didnt like plain broth, but i love ramen noodle so i just add hot Water to the broth mix or fix the noodles and strain those which my hubby eats and i drink the broth. maybe a thinner shake like ensure would be easier then powders? some Protein is better then none. and powder can get chalky. hope things get better. just try to be positive! attitude is huge factor i think. goodluck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
