Phase1 protein drink recommendatons

Recommended Posts

I have heard Isopure Protein Shakes are horrible, but that is what my surgeon's office has recommended for Protein the first 2-3 days. Does anyone have any alternative ideas for clear liquid proten drinks?

Isopure isn't bad at all as long as you steer clear of the Alpine Punch, lol. No really though, they taste like uncarbonated soda. I would at least try them before. It is nice to get 40 grams of Protein in one Protein Drink.< /p>

I tried the Isopure clear drinks and could nt stand it. The only Protein I ended up getting during the first week, was from the Unjury protein broth. Didn't taste to bad. I tried multiple clear drinks and couldn't stand any of them, even when I tried to dilute it out. So basically during one week post op, I got maybe 30g of protein per day, if that.

I added unflavored Protein powder to chicken broth and beef broth and tea and apple juice and other clear liquids--I couldn't stand the Isopure drinks. Blech!

Thank you Lizzy2150, that's a GREAT idea!!! I bought several Isopures to try them before & I tried the mango peach one and BLEH is an understatement!!! It tasted like rotten eggs! I will NOT be trying the others! I will be exchanging them for the some unflavored Protein powder!

THANK YOU AGAIN!

Unflavored Protein Powder is not flavorless - I wish it was. But it is better than Isopure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
