Sooo yesterday (thursday) was my 2nd day back at work. I was about 30 minutes in and i felt nausious but I didn't want to ask to leave or anything because we were understaffed. about an hour and a half later i felt a bit flushed and a tad dizzy. My coworkers (who are all wonderful older ladies) forced me to sit down and gave me Water etc. etc. and called my boss who told me I should go home. But I still felt like this big jerk. :( Has anyone experienced this? I think I was dehydrated? but I just don't know anymore. I'm trying to figure out my body again but its only been about 2 weeks now since surgery.

For the past few months there have been quite a few people saying they where dizzy, shakey and sweating.

To me these are classic signs of hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. The temporary cure is glucose

in one form or another, table sugar, orange juice or even a piece of bread. When you suddenly

stop eating carbohydrates I think your body reacts in an adverse way. From my experience,

your body gradually adjusts to the lower blood sugar and then functions normally at lower levels.

I think people on pre and post op diets should be aware of this and watch for those symptoms.

Agreed, Corrigan! Same thing happened to me post op. I ate a small amount of Protein (cottage cheese worked wonders) and it helped tremendously.

Very true - I didnt have to do a pre op diet - BMI was 35, liver was fine, etc, but I thought it would be a good kick start. I couldnt hack it - I fainted everytime I stood up by day 3.

I guess I could have perserved if I'd really "had" to to do it, but sheesh, that was hard core. My doc told me not to be an idiot and to eat something, lol.

But sudden lack of food can make you feel pretty crook.

Thank you for the responses...The blood sugar seems like an obvious answer. I've gone from eating whatever I wanted practically to really no extra added sugar what so ever. My body is probably in shock. I know my stomach is I can barely eat anything anymore and I do not have a fill yet.
