Question about fills.

Recommended Posts

Can you go to a different Dr for your first fill than the one who put the lap band in? I am getting banded in Jan in Jersey but found a Dr who does fills right around the corner. I was wondering if insurance covered fills with different Dr's so close after the banding. I have personal choice. any one have any thoughts?

Sure. Until recently there was a compny called Fill Centers that did nothing but fills. If possible, get your fills done under a Flouriscope.

It not only tracks the fill, but can detect any possible problems with the band or tubing. Be careful to have it done by a reputable

facility. I don't know anything about your insurance, you'll have to ask them.

Your insurance coverage is a big factor as far as where you can go for fills...I had my surgery at Geisinger last year under Aetna but after Jan. 1, 2011 I had a new insurance company that Geisinger doesn't participate with so I had to search for another provider. MOST places would not take me because they hadn't done the surgery...I finally found a place that's about 60 miles away...and also when you're talking to the insurance company GET IT IN WRITING! I'd check around to find other people going there and see what they think about it. If money was no object I'd be back at Geisinger in a heartbeat! Good luck... Linda

I don't see why people recommend that. Why in the world should people expose themselves to radiation if not medically necessary? I unfortunately do. I hold animals at work for radiographs and while I don't get fills I would not want them to use fluoroscopy if not neccessarily. There are a few people in my practice who've had cancer and won't hold for rads anymore because of the cancer risk.

Not all doctors do that - mine uses ultrasound....we're not talking about everyday exposure through - just once amonth for a while then less often! That's also why I prefer using the doctors group that put it in - if you have that choice...even with the drive I have I'll stick with this group! Good luck... Linda

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
