November 60 Mile Walk Challenge

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to everyone who will or have completed their 60 Miles in October. we had an even bigger crowd this month. I know for me it really moved the scale. Are you ready for NOVEMBER :D . For those of you who do not know, this challenge is for EVERYONE who does any type of walking (I prefer Leslie Sansone Walk Away the pounds) just add your ticker like mine (see below) and update it as well as this forum when you've completed 1..2..3..miles ect.(See the October Walk Challenge for examples). The challenge starts November1st and ends November 30th so that gives us 30 days to get 60 miles done. CAN WE DO IT AGAIN!!!!

Wow! This looks like something I can do. YAY!

I think the hardest thing will be getting the "ticker" on my signature. I have 24 hours to get that done.

Thanks!

Okay this will be my first time for this. Can't wait! Do most of you walk daily or so many times a week? Don't know if I can do daily so I am going to try at least 4 miles 4 times a week. We will see what works best for me I guess.

I figure I should jump right in! I'm getting banded this month so I'll have to try to get in some extra miles before the actually surgery! Do you guys count only miles that are specifically "exercise" or do you count the entire day's worth, like from a pedometer?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
