Can someone explain what it means?

Recommended Posts

I see a lot of people post things like "I have trouble with chicken" or Pasta or rice...can anyone elaborate on what it means to be having "trouble with". Like if you have trouble eating chicken. What does that mean in your terms? What do you have "trouble" with..what are the affects? How do you remedy it?

trouble meaning, trouble going down, maybe not chewed well enough, maybe to big of a bite, maybe to dry.

The remedy, sometimes it will go down, usually it comes back up. Thats why you avoid those foods you have trouble with.

Having trouble with a food means that it doesn't go through the band. It gets stuck and either comes back up, causes a sliming episode or hurts like crazy until it finally falls through. I have those problems mostly with rice, Pasta. red meat, raw vegetable and bread. I can handle a little bit of rice or pasta if its in Soup. The remedy is JUST DON'T EAT THEM!!!

So by "comes back up" of course you mean throw up right? I wondered how you would know something got stuck. Like what does the hurt feel like? Im just trying to get as much info as possible!

It's not really throwing up like you've done in the past, it's like a burp that pops the food back out into your mouth. It's not pleasant but it's not the heaving, puking you think of when you think about "throwing up".

Oh and have you ever taken a big gulp of something and had a piece of ice go down your throat? And it sorta gets stuck and hurts like hell until it melts? That's the pain!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
