True Results in Houston .. Adjustment

Recommended Posts

Just venting here ... but I'm a little upset at myself and True Results.

I completely forgot I had my adjustment scheduled for Oct. 19th; so I missed my appt. I called True Results this morning and told them I missed my appt and want to make another one. Well their next available is NOVEMBER 22! I have to wait a complete month before I get my next Fill. I was last filled in Sept. So I just delayed my progress. :(

On another note .. these Fills take about 10 mintues to do.. TOPS .. and I find it hard to imagine that they are completely booked for the next month solid. Well Lesson Learned .. Never miss an appt at True Results or you will be Screwed!!!!!

did you ask if they had a waiting list for canceled appointments? Maybe they could squeeze you in that way?

I work with pediatrics and conduct / attend clinics in different hospitals and other facilities every day of the week.

When a appointment is made, a time slot, space, and the time of various healthcare professionals is set aside just for you.

You are asked to give at least 24 hr notification if you can't make it.

When there is a "No Show" , as you did, then there is wasted time (and money) and someone else who could have used your slot.

Imagine a hair dresser in a salon who depends upon her appointments showing up.

All I'm saying is be happy they got you an appointment when they did. You are probably at the bottom of their list. Would not expect any special treatment right now.

I work in a totally different field, but I completely agree with you. When someone doesn't bother to show up without calling, they are my last priority. It is rude and inconsiderate. I am currently on a cancellation waiting list to get into a pain clinic for some shots in my neck to treat 3 bulging disks. My actual appointment is Dec 6th. I will be there with bells on whether they can get me in sooner or not.

Bashy, I had my surgery on 10/21... so I haven't yet made to a fill. But, thanks for the info on "missing" an appointment. I can understand your frustration, but I can also understand their side of it too. Just let it go, and continue on with your weight loss goals... keep your eye on the prize! :-)

She mentioned I can call each day to see if someone cancels; so I will be doing that. I can't believe that I totally forgot about my appointment :( I look forward to getting my fills and getting closer to the fabled 'green zone'. Well lessons learned.

I also go to True Results, call and ask to speak to a nurse ask for Ada and let her know you are concerned in waiting this long for a fill and you would like to be seen asap. they can schedule you in as soon as that same day. I think it's BS that they are making you wait that long, yes you missed your appt, IT happens. GL!

I think calling and talking to them might do the trick... let us know what they say!

Hello Marla, I see you are a Dr. Hollis patient too...

Just came from my first fill at true results, I was an hour late because I had to first go to Dr. Hollis' office. The lady at the front was quick to point out my timing but I let her know that the bay area was a bit of a distance, waited two minutes, was out in 10.

I scheduled my Appt with Dr. Hollis... what does he actually do at his office?

Did you get a fill at TR... how was it? Do we need to keep a list of our Diet for this???

Elmo; At Dr Hollis' office he signs the release form to hand you over to True Results, they just take your demographic info and bp weight plus height.

At True Results you present your release form, fill out some paperwork and they also take your vitals then get your fill. The process was harmless and no dietary log required nor was one requested. Amongst the papers you sign at the front desk one of them has a list of foods and you circle the frequency in which you eat those foods. I hope I answered all your questions.

The doctor has his own practice where one can get banded and see him regularly for fills, true results pay various doctors who have their own bariatric offices to work for them I guess as a contractor would. Thereafter one is released to true results. Now if there are any problems with the band my understanding is that the doctor would takes care of that. A nurse practitioner performed my fill.

I go to true results Houston too. I make my fill appts far in advance since I can only go on their late days, Thursday's. I made my December appt 2 weeks ago and will make my January appt when I go in 2 weeks.

They get booked up super fast, so I can see why they can't fit you in. But you never know, maybe someone else will forget theirs or cancel and you can slide in. I'd keep calling them back every day.

Good luck.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
