Where to start..again??

Recommended Posts

It seems the more research I do the more confused I get.

Im in open enrollment period with my insurance and we are switching to BCBS. Our contract states that I have to have 40+ BMI..and no longer requires the specific time period of trying to lose..so on and so forth..

Ive already talked to my PCP months ago and she was the one who actually threw the suggestion of Lap BAND to me. That is where I started my research. Well..the hospital I chose, of course doesnt accept my CURRENT insurance. So I have to wait for the BCBS to kick in at the beginning of the year.

My question is..I feel like Im in limbo. I dont know what to do or who to call next. Do I call my PCP and tell them that I want to start all the psych eval stuff right now and get it underway..or do I call the surgeons office that I want the surgery done at go through there? Im so confused!!!

Look for Centers of Excellence on Google to find one close to you, (there's one in Flint),

and give them a call to see if they can help you. I had such good service from them that

I recommend CoEs whenever I can.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
