Restriction varies throughout the day

Recommended Posts

I was banded in February, and have had six fills.

I lost 50 pounds so far.

I am finding that in the morning, I can barely eat anything.

As the day progresses, I can usually eat more.

It seems to vary from day to day.

Sometimes, in the evening, I can eat far too much if I want to (I usually do, or I wouldn't need a band :) )

I had a fill two months ago to try to correct that, and it was too tight. I could barely get down shakes, and I had to have it loosened.

I'll bring it up with the surgeon on my next fill appointment, but I suspect that at this point, I really have to help things along by exerting a modicum of will power. I still have to eat slowly, even at night, which does help.

I am glad you brought this up, I am the same way. I was banded at the end of March and have 6.5 cc in my band right now. So far I have lost 60 pds, have about 40 more to go. I have learned since my last fill I cannot do anything for Breakfast. It always feels like it gets stuck in the morning. I have been only drinking a Protein Shake and coffee in the morning. Then try to do something light like tuna, deli turkey, or chicken breast for lunch. Then at night I have to stay away from breads or anthing like crackers. They fill me up and I don't want to eat my Protein. I enjoy the restriction that I have now. I am suppose to be going back in Dec. to see him. He might be wanting to put some more Fluid in, but I am afraid I might be to tight then. Good luck

It sounds like at your current fill, you are limited to a fairly small amount even in the evening.

That is encouraging. I'll have to try to get there at my next fill.

Thanks

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
