jamesmom 3 Posted October 25, 2011 So my pcp says I got stones in my gallbladder and now I have to get that removed first, so now im scared the process might take longer if you get it removed now, then you can give your body time to heal and get your band in december; i got mine removed 4 last month....its no biggie! blackcadillacs5 62 Posted October 26, 2011 So my pcp says I got stones in my gallbladder and now I have to get that removed first, so now im scared the process might take longer Good luck with this....remember that they are 2 different surgeries and that they are very different....I am sure the lap band is easier surgery than the gallbladder being removed. honk 780 Posted October 26, 2011 Get it out before you have an attack. They are horrific! 1 blackcadillacs5 reacted to this
Corrigan 75 Posted October 26, 2011 Some surgeons do both at once. I don't know if that's good or not. Q.9 If I need gallbladder surgery, can the band be applied at the same time? A. Yes. Both surgical procedures can be done at the same time, at no additional cost. indyhandmade 43 Posted October 26, 2011 I was diagnosed with gallstones in August after I had two sudden attacks (horrible!). After seeing the surgeon, I thought I'd wait it out and see what happens. I've only had one more attack since then. I just saw the same doctor for my lap band consult, and he said that if I'm not having any more attacks, we'll just leave it in until necessary. He also said that he wouldn't want to do both procedures at the same time due to the increased risk of infection. So, if you need it out, do it. But if you aren't having many attacks, maybe you can wait until after the band?
