Pain upper stomach, left of port.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am 7 months out and doing fairly well until recently. I have this almost constant ache, almost like pulling a muscle , just a little left and down from the sternom. My port is on the right side, and for a few months after my surgery I had a lot of discomfort on my left side, mostly my shoulder. Im not sure what's going on.. and being as that my doctor is 3 hours away (just recently moved) I know when I call tomorrow morning they'll tell me to come in.. and that's not really a possiblilty right now. Has anyone else had these pains? What did it turn out to be? Thanks for any info.. the first couple days I figured it'd go away but now im a little worried!!

Its not something we should be giving our opinions of. If it is that bothersome you should call your doctor even if he is 3 hours away. It could be something that needs to be looked at and just because someone else had the same symptoms does not mean it is the same thing you are having. Please call your doctor and just explain you can not come right now they may have suggestions of what you can do or go to the emergency room.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
