Hello Bandsters... Quick question??? in a few weeks I will be attending a pizza party with my daughter. I was wondering is it ok to eat just the topping of pizza... no crust... no bread... Sausage & cheese pizza topping only. Thanks for any answers or suggestions.

I will have a slice every once in a while if my band will tolerate it. Sometimes when it's almost time for a fill, I can eat a few bites of a thin crust pizza, other times, I have just dabbed the excess grease off the top with a paper towel and had the cheese and toppings. I'm down 60 lbs since very end of feb.

i had pizza for the first time this past friday. i tried it in the past and it didnt agree with me. i made sure i ate very thin crust, cheese only and just one piece. had a salad with it. you just have to be careful. since you are newly banded, i would be very careful cause of the cheese.

It depends how much saline you have in your band - how tight you are. I don't have much restriction (5.5 ccs in 14 cc band) and can still eat pizza with no problems (even thick crust). I do eat way less than i used to - depending on the pizza i can comfortably have 1 slice, sometimes 2 (some times 1.5 slice) - it all depends. I used to eat a whole half of a large pizza so i'm doing a heck of a lot better these days. I've been losing great - and maybe have pizza on average 2-3 times a month.

Hey Allison... My name is Allyson as well... Lol. I have a 14cc band with no saline in it. I do feel fullness after I eat but no real redirection. I'm not even sure what restriction feels like but I haven't been starving n I'm satisfied when I eat my smaller portions now. When you say a slice, do uuu mean a triangular slice for example, pizza hut... Or a square piece like at home run inn pizza? Thanks to everyone for your comments. Truly appreciate any words of wisdom from my fellow bandsters.

Hi Allyson! growing up i always wanted my name spelled with a "Y" lol! anyway - on an extra large pizza - like pizza hut cut into triangles - i can usually just do one slice - maybe 1.5 - on a square pizza cut into squares (thick crust large - just cheese or xtra cheese) i can usually do 2 pieces - sometimes only 1.5. I think after my next fill beginning of november i likely will either not be able to eat thick crust at all or even if i can will only get down 1 slice. We will see. Best of luck to you!:)

Be careful of the cheese. It can get stuck very easily!

For me its one of those iffy foods.... last night I made homeade pizza for my family ... ultra thin crust, cheese, sauce, sausage and pepperoni. I attempted to eat one slice. I cut it in half, checwed until pureed... and it still came back up. Other times... I have no issues. Go figure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
