Leslie76 0 Posted October 23, 2011 Hi, I've been banded for one year now. I am fighting the band. I can still eat more than my surgeon says I should BUT I have a hard time getting down meat no matter how much I chew. I am TIRED of getting stuck and throwing up. Also, because of the stress from all of this, I've fallen off the diet wagon. What do I do? I'm considering having a revision to gastric bypass, but I don't know if that will help. I'm feeling like I'm a failure.
Corrigan 75 Posted October 23, 2011 Before you give up on the band, try the 5 day band test, (look it up on Google) it just might get you back on track. If you know you're chewing enough and doing everything else correctly, maybe you need a slight unfill. It's worth thinking about. 1 I-wanna-be-a-loser reacted to this
I-wanna-be-a-loser 10 Posted October 23, 2011 Great point Corrigan. I'd say you need a tiny unfill to get the protien down.

I'm feeling like I'm a failure. If you have learned how to eat around the band, what makes you think you won't figure out how to eat around gastric bypass? I don't think you necessarily need an unfill, although you might. I gave up on red meat a long time ago. It doesn't matter how tender it is or how much I chew or even how tight my band is. It is not going down! I think you just need to get back on the band wagon and do what you know you need to do. Stop fighting your band. We fight our enemies...your band is your friend.
