Recommended Posts

Hello, my name is Elizabeth, freshly 24years old from Miami Florida!! The sunshine state. I am glad to be a new member to LBT. I have worked on my credit for many years to get this surgery... and here I am... to be banded November 15th,2011! Super excited, nervous and anxious. Crazy how the closer you get, you become filled with mixed emotions. I am ready.

Current weight: 325

Height: 5'5

Size: 22/24

Add me, I would love experienced, new, or to be bandsters to offer support during my new journey.

:)

This is pretty easy surgery, all you really have to do is show up. You'll be wheeled into the OR and wake up in recovery. Almost that

easy. Don't forget your slippers and PJs. You don't want your butt hanging out of your gown as you walk down the hall.

This time next month, You'll wonder what you were worried about. Best of luck.

Yes, thank you! This will be my first surgery ever. I know it will be worth it. Thanks for the support with a hint of humor. :)

Thanks, appreciate it. Add me= add as a friend.

6 days since you got banded? wow.. How has it been so far? I've been training myself to chew slowly as practice. LOL

Recovery hasn't been too bad. I've been lucky and haven't had much pain or gas issues like some do. I tried chewing better as practice also, but you don't get to chew anything for quite a while after surgery!! The hardest part for me is the diet. I'm not very hungry, but I still want to eat real food! I'm down 7 lbs since surgery though, so I'll keep at it! You'll do great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
