Slow weight loss

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I was banded three months ago and had my third fill yesterday. I have lost 26 lbs but can't shake the feeling that the weight loss is so slow!! I feel like I should be further along. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Emily, You're losing about 2 lbs a week. That's about what the surgeons recommend.

Some people loose more , but that's not always good for your health. Keep on doing what

you're doing and in a year, you'll have lost 100 lbs. That doesn't sound too bad.

Almost 2 months for me, and I feel like my weight loss has been really slow too. I had my first fill yesterday (Saturday), so hoping I will feel more restriction! I have to keep reminding myself of how MUCH and how poorly I was eating before. And to stay positive and know that I am becoming healthier every day.

26 pounds in 3 months is almost 10 pounds a month -- that is FANTASTIC!! Any faster and it wouldn't be healthy -- that is what I averaged for the entire time I have had the band and I have reached my goal after 9 months -- be ecstatic and enjoy -- you are on your way!!

Omg! I feel like that too like it's slow or am I really losing weight, even though the scale says I am and some clothes. I had my surgery august 29, 2011 I was a 320 that day now I'm at 293-294, but I feel like the weight is taking forever to come off it's not like I eat so much food. I guess I'm looking at the people that lose more weight quicker and I Ned to stop doing that, and besides I gotta admit I can't get in the right mind set to start exercsing yes that's right didn't start yet, but trust me I'm gonna start. Oh and I have had 2 fills so far and suppose to get one thursday. So hopefully that maes me feel like want to feel like I'm doing my part and it's doing it's part also am I right or wrong give me some advice...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
