10 days post-op, 600 calories, okay?

Recommended Posts

I am concerned that I am not getting enough calories. I was banded 10 days ago. I have been getting approximately 50 grams of protein/600 calories per day. Here is what I ate today:

50 oz Water

6oz Isopure

1/2 cup scrambled eggs w/ a dusting of cheddar cheese

Protein Shake (2 scoops & 8 oz milk)

2 turkey meatballs with Pasta Sauce

I lost 21 lbs in the first 5 days and haven't lost anything since. Should I up my calorie intake? If so, any suggestions on mushies that can help?

Also (if you have time to answer) my incisions sites are still very sore. They all look very good and are healing very well but they still hurt. Is this normal? The incision over my stomach (under left breast) hurts the most and it seems to be swollen, my stomach that is. I can see/feel that it slightly bulges out around that incision.

Thanks soooo much!

i'm a little over a year out from surgery. i ate between 600-750 calories a day for the first 6-8 months and lost quite a bit of weight during that time, so from my perspective, you're ok with your calorie intake unless you're truly hungry. one of my favorite mushies is a blended mixture of ricotta, Tomato sauce, cooked spinach, and herbs. i also did refried Beans and greek yogurt mixed when i was on mushies.

if the incision you're talking about is your largest incision, that's your port incision. it remained sore for me for quite some time. it will heal; it just takes time. do you have a 2 week appointment scheduled with your surgeon? make sure you tell him all of your concerns just to make sure everything is fine.
