Hello Ladies,

I was banded on Wednesday, October 19th and I can tell you ladies that it is not as difficult as you think it is. You will see that it will go like clockwork. My surgery took almost two hours only because I had an umbilical hernia repair as well. The extra little bit of pain I have had is also from the hernia repair. I think that if I had not had the hernia repair I would be so much further in my recovery from the band surgery. I am really not hungry - even when my stomach growls. When I drink too fast I get a tightness in my chest area and know to stop. I can't wait until they advance me to full liquids so I can have milk products and creamy soups!! Not looking forward to the mushies but I am going to be buying baby food instead of blending my food.< /p>

Good luck to all of you!!

So glad to hear this! And that you are doing well! It's funny but I am actually looking forward to the post-op diet because the pre-op diet is SO HARD! Does that make sense?

Makes complete and total sense to me; I have already been through the pre-op diet. However, there seems to be one drawback. I don't think I am getting enough calories. I am experiencing the lightheadedness and being tired a lot. I know I am not getting enough fluids but I hope I can get better at it each day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
