Feeling like a big lazy slob today!

Recommended Posts

Ok its been 3 wks since surgery, and starting last night was a train wreck. My not overweight husband and skinny sister went out to return a movie and brought back not 1 or 2 but 3 different bags of Oreo's! And OMG i scarfed down like 6 and today (not all day was bad) had like at least another 6 throughout the day!!!

I felt lethargic today, I guess because the passed few nights I have not slept well (baby got up a few in a row, the room was hot at 4am and husband wanted to..ahem...you know). I actually got a little energy from those Cookies at one point.

So now I'm feeling so guilty and fat and mad at myself.

Is this a big time sign that I need a (first) fill? Dr. scheduled a 6 wk follow up with a "50/50 chance of a fill" 6 WEEKS??????

did you eat them because you were hungry or because they were good. I find sometimes..I want to eat more than I should just because...not because I am hungry

It was like an uncontrollable urge to jam them in my mouth...like i didnt care about anything but those stupid Cookies. I should mention I'm not in no way shape or form am an emotional eater- if ever i feel sad, or mad or whatever- eating is the LAST thing i wanna do. I think maybe because i hadnt eaten anything like that in so long...

Just make sure you start over again the next day. If I mess up, I just say well tomorrow is a new day. I bought candy the other day and took too bites and had to throw it away! It was too sweet and did not even taste good like it used to. You will get through this!

Maybe your husband could be a little more sensitive and not eat them around you. Atleast during your early stages here where you haven't broken your bad eating habits and you are still learning how to eat with the band. I am lucky because even though my husband is thin, he prefers to eat healthy, which makes it easier for me. I'm only 10 days banded and just started mushies. But I didn't go through this surgery to not be successful. So good luck to you. Take care of yourself.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
