I had lapband surgery on 1/11/11 and to date I have lost 30 lbs. I haven't lost anything over the last 2 months and I'm frustrated. I don't regret having the band for a second because my health is greatly improved. My blood sugar is better, my cholesterols/triglycerides are improved and I'm off my blood pressure medicine so those are HUGE victories. I have always been a slow slow loser and seem to be weight loss resistant. I'm eating half of the calories I ate before the band and I'm now able to do Zumba 2-4 times a week and I never exercised before other than an occassional walk. I simply don't understand how I'm not losing at least a pound a week. I've had regular doctors appointments and have had several fills. I believe I have 7 cc's in a 14cc band. I have good restriction in fact I'm not able to eat much at one time unless I can spread it out over a half hour. I may be too tight but I'm wondering if my metabolism is just screwed up. The though of just holding at a 30 lb weight loss makes me want to cry. I'm happy with my results but I'd really like to get another 30 lbs off. Any suggestions?

Hi I can certainly relate, I am not sure how many calories you are now eating their is something to the fact that if you are working out you may need more calories, I find also that I have to eat lower carbs to get the scale moving. You may want to go and talk again to your Bariatric nutritionist to try and get some advice. My weight has been stable up and down like 10 lbs for the last year or so.

I am scheduled now for a body lift on Nov 1st. Part of me says I am still too heavy but my Bariatric Dr etc says I am close to their goal and the PS says that I am close enough that this should be the final push to get me to goal. Also the seems that the current thought is that the goal should be a Healthy weight you can maintain. So I will still maybe 40 lbs over the Insurance rate and still in the overweight but that will have to be ok.

Take Care

Hey shelley try taking only 15 mins to eat your food.after 15 min if you feel you are full stop eating and take what is left of your food and throw it away.that way you are not tempted to go back and finish it.one thing i have been told it's not the amount of calories that you need to count.it's mostlt the carbs you eat.to many carbs will cause you to either gain weight or maintain weight.have three meals a day concentrate mostly on Proteins but also include a vegetable.if you arre like me i mostly want to snack usally at night.when i do i have a sugar free Jello or somtimes a cheese stick.and if i have them my doc suggested slim jim beef sticks as a snack because it is protein.but do not cosume all these at once i was just giving you some suggestions as to what you can eat for a snack.that has no carbs in it.i had my band put in sept 1 2011 i started seeing my doc august 8 2011.since then i have lost as of today which i had my second fill and was weighed in i have lost a total of 40 pounds.remember to read all food lables and try to stay under 30 none vegetable carbs.vegetable carbs when portioned right don't have to be counted.use the 30 carbs a day for things like ketchup, bbq sauce, and mayo.try this bet yoyu will see some results with in a week.rt now i have gained muscle mas back as i go to the gym 3 days a week and spend at least 1 hour working out.so don't give up if you have the will there is always a way hope you the best of luck and never give up..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
