Heating pad and if someone can rub your back that may help. I just get relief it doesnt go away completely. Hang in there 5 days post-op and each day is getting better.

I am 7 days post op and still having the left shoulder gas. And tonight I started to have what feels like a gas pocket on the left below my rib cage. I feel like my body has been invaded but I am trying to stay positive that this will all resolve soon. Gas x didn't help me. Pain med helped more last night than tonight. The NP suggested ice rather than heat. Good luck. We are all in this together!

I had really bad gas pains in my shoulder. My doctor suggested hot peppermint tea and lots of walking. I must say it worked for me :) the gas will work itself out but try to walk a lot to help it out.

I had lots of gas pain, especially after my first surgery. There is nerve that goes from your shoulder to your neck (not exactly sure) but it was intense gas pain. It does go away! I found that heat really helped my shoulder. Definitely take the gas x, and i also took an antacid (chewable).. Walking is really good too.. i know its probably annoying but it definitely gets things going! Feel better!

This is very true. I am here to tell you though if you ever forget the band is there or just ignore it and go back to as close to normal eating as you can you will go through it again. I am right now. It sucks worse the second time cause all you can do is listen to your screaming tummy and hope it works out:(

In this economy insurance is not a certainty and you must take care of your body! Just my advice to any newbies out there!

The gas-x and walking about seem to help me as well. The walking may just be to pass the time until the gas-x works, but I'm sticking with this combination. The shoulder pain is incredible though. Good thing it was talked about in my book and here before I actually felt it. It could have been a cause for alarm.

Hot showers helped me 'want' to go for a walk and the walking does help get the gas moving. I didn't think the gas-x helped me at all. The others are right, it will get better in a few days!

I got a massage on my collar bone & front pecs. Bit was awesome & really helped that crazy gas pain. It will get better...I promise!! Hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
