Hungry what can I eat 12 days banded???...I want food...

Recommended Posts

Hello I was banded on October 5th and I am so hungry. My band is empty according to my doctor. I am sick of eating Jello pudding etc. I feel like I want real food... How can I stop my cravings? What can I eat since I am not a Soup person. Also should I have a fill on Nov 9th or should I wait a month??

If your hungry get a fill, it will help briefly but the first fill doesn't do much. If u feel like ur starving try calling ur doc. Maybe he will let u advance to soft foods. Mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, eggs, etc... Those will fill u up :)

I'm guessing you can't get a fill yet since you're not even 2 weeks post op....

At your stage my doctor said I could eat anything that would fit through a straw... I blended everything and added enough milk or Water to it to liquify. Also, I basically lived off homemade potato Soup. When can you start mushies? In a couple days?

I am with the others who posted.... this is the roughest time because you can only have food which can fit through a straw., The one thing that saved me was sugar free popsicles and fudgesicles. Its almost over .... dont give in to temptation. You can do serious damage if you move to mushies to early. I was banded on Dec 9 and couldnt eat mushies until New Year's Day! But I promise when you get on the other side.... it will be SO worth it!

I will be starting on my week 2 and my doctor allows only Protein Shakes and plain yogurt with sweetner. Along with all my Clear Liquids. On week 3 I can have all blended foods or soft mushy foods. My doctor said not to worry during this time about carbs and losing weight so much it is all about healing. When in doubt call your doctor. Its better to get the information straight from your doctors mouth then anything else. Good Luck!!

Woow

I guess I have no will power!!! I had my band put in last thursday and I was so hungry today I had a can of tuna with a few chips and I fell fine. I know that everything you eat has to go down small and smooth so I chewed everything down to an almost paste consistancy. Other then that I am still eating and drinking everything I was told to (protien shakes, puddig, lots of Water, yoguart). I hope I havent done something to seriously bad. It sounds like I have to get back on it. Hope you have to will power to pull though

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
